Glossary of Office Chair Adjustment Terms

 

360° Swivel - Chair rotates a full 360 degrees in either direction for ease of motion.

Arm Height Adjustment - Allows the user to adjust the armrests vertically.

Back Angle Adjustment - Adjusts to change the angle of the back in relation to the seat.

Back Height Adjustment - Raise or lower the backrest to support the lumbar region and upper back.

Center-Tilt - Chair tilts from a point under the center of the seat allowing you to rock.

Dual Function- Two levers operate the angle of back relative to seat and forward seat tilt.

Flex Back - Back tilts with pressure. Allows user to recline while keeping seat cushion level to floor.

Forward Seat Tilt - Allows chair seat to tilt forward, changing the angle of your thighs in relation to the floor.

Knee Tilt - Chair tilts from a point at the front of the seat keeping your feet on the floor as you rock.

Mid-Pivot Knee Tilt - Pivot point located slightly ahead of center of gravity. Allows user to recline at a slightly more relaxed angle than conventional center tilt.

Multi-Function - Three levers to operate the angle of back relative to the seat, control tilt and forward seat tilt.

Multi-Task Control - Adjusts seat and back angles with a single lever reducing fatigue in back and thighs.

Seat Angle Adjustment - Seat angle will lock in any position from front to back.

Seat Depth Adjustment - Slide the seat on a horizontal plane to accommodate the length of your thighs.

Seat Height Adjustment - Raise or lower the seat in relation to the floor. Often done with a pneumatic or gas lift cylinder.

Synchro-Tilt - Backrest and seat tilt in unison. The backrest tilts at a higher ratio than the seat encouraging proper posture.

Tilt Lock - Lock the backrest into a specific position.

Tilt Tension Control - Increase or decrease tilt tension of the backrest depending on user’s bodyweight.

Waterfall Seat - A downward angle at the front edge of the seat reduces pressure at the back of the knee allowing for good blood flow.

Width Adjustable Arms - Adjust arms inward or outward to match a user’s shoulder span.
