Selecting new waiting area furniture for your new or existing space doesn’t have to be a headache. Our easy to follow guide will have you asking the right questions, avoiding mistakes made by others in the past.  Finding out after receiving your new reception seating that it tends to be shorter than average and can sit a little firm is costly. Use the guide below to learn about similar topics otherwise missed during the selection process. We want to help you make the best choice for your waiting area and avoid these expensive mistakes.

 

Measure Twice

The importance of measuring multiple times for your space cannot be stressed enough. Ordering furniture that will not fit your reception area properly can be an expensive error. Many office waiting room chairs are made-to-order and cannot be returned. If they are returnable there is a restocking fee and return shipping costs associated with the return.  Always measure twice.

 

Durability Tests

Not all upholstery was created equal. Learning more about the durability you select will ensure your investment lasts for years to come. The industry term for abrasion testing is called a double rub, the higher the number, the better wear rating it will have. A benchmark for commercial spaces would be 30,000 doubles rubs and above. For spaces that are medium to high traffic we recommend something that is a minimum of 100,000 double rubs.

 

Types of Upholstery

There are countless options when it comes to upholstery today. Picking the one that best suits your needs will depend on the type of clientele sitting in it every day. Standard fabrics provide a softer feel, but are not easy to wipe down. While fabrics tend to be more comfortable than many of the Vinyl upholsteries, many will fade and/or fray easier. Healthcare grade vinyl’s have antimicrobial/antibacterial components, preventing the growth of bacteria on the surface.  Healthcare vinyl is also available with printed patterns, making them appear more like fabric. Leather has been a classic choice for high end styling; however the durability of leather tends to be much less than the synthetic vinyl’s now being manufactured.  Aesthetics and functionality will play a big role in selecting the correct upholstery for your location.

 

Color Swatches

While upholstery manufacturers make their best attempt to provide accurate color images for online viewing, monitor settings will create variations of these images. Natural lighting, incandescent lighting and dark areas will change the way your furniture appears once in the space. It is always important to request free color samples prior to ordering for proper color matching.

 

Assembly Required

Assembly is required for most of the waiting room chairs for sale. Many of the single wood frame chairs from leading brands now come with an interlocking wedge system for easier assembly. This system has removed the need for tools, typically requiring at most a rubber mallet.  Simply slide the seat/back pad onto the frame, push down and it will lock into place. Unfortunately the system is not available for oversized chairs (over 275 lbs.) and they will require nuts/bolts to ensure a stronger connection. Most manufacturers provide detailed assembly instructions in PDF format for reference prior to purchase.

 

Return Policy

It is always important to read the fine print for any companies return policy. This is especially important with custom reception room furniture. While some standard colors can be returned, many of our seating options with various color choices cannot be returned. If returns can be made, there will be a restocking fee and shipping costs associated with each return. If a product cannot be returned this is typically listed on pages where returns are not available. Whenever in doubt on a return policy, it is best to call or email customer service to more information.
