Get Enough Sleep

For people who are not in the habit of sleeping as much as they should, it is a good idea to set up a sleep schedule where he or she goes to bed and then wakes up at a specific time every day. If sufficient sleep is not obtained the night before, a nap during one's break or lunch hour can also result in improved focus and office productivity.
A desk that is overly cluttered can make it difficult to find important documents and work tools. An organized workspace reduces excess clutter and allows an employee to arrange essential work items in a way that will increase office productivity. Searching for the items needed to complete one's work wastes time and makes it harder to complete the necessary work. In addition, clutter also increases a person's risk of losing, or even accidentally destroying, important documents. An appropriately arranged desk keeps important items neatly where they belong and as a result reduces stress which is a major threat to productivity.
Have a Plan
Creating a work plan is an effective way to increase office productivity. Before the beginning of every workday a person should take several moments to assess the work that needs to be completed. By writing the items down in the order of importance, he or she can create a list that will serve as a guide for the day. Additionally, placing time limits on each of the tasks based on urgency will also help people to work more efficiently by ensuring that all crucial tasks are completed as quickly as possible. Posting this work plan in a visible location in the work area will make it easier for the individual to stick to what needs to be done.
Say No to Others
Learning to say no to others will help workers and students increase productivity by completing their work and meeting their goals in a timely manner. Other people can interfere with productivity by making requests that are counterproductive to one's work goals. In the workplace this may involve taking on additional work to help another coworker complete his or her work. Socializing is another way in which co-workers can take a person away from set work goals. A person who is comfortable and confident enough to say no to interruptions and/or requests from others will vastly improve his or her work productivity and become more valuable to employers.

One of the most useful productivity tips for people who use the Internet at work or while studying is to stay focused on the task at hand. When a person's job requires the use of the Internet either to check emails or perform research, it is easy to be distracted by other things that threaten work productivity. Although many places have restrictions about Internet usage, the temptation to visit social media websites or to check one's personal emails can be a challenge. This is especially true for college students who may easily become distracted while studying or researching. Use breaks as a time to check out what's happening with friends and family and don't risk the negative impact that it will have on work.
